Inviting Agriculture Entrepreneurs with Innovative Ideas


SFAC invites any individual, society, company, NGO, institution or group of
individuals, working on any innovation in agriculture, to partner it to upscale and
replicate the idea on a bigger scale.  The key factor in choosing ideas for upscaling
will be the potential impact of the innovation on small and marginal farmers,
especially women cultivators. 
SFAC, with its unique position as a Society promoted by Dept. of Agriculture,
Govt. of India and focused on the needs of small producers, offers to link small
scale innovations to financial support and field testing on a large scale in
partnership with State Governments. 
An innovation could address any one or more of the following areas:
1. Productivity enhancement across crops
2. Skill upgradation of farmers
3. Marketing linkages
4. Value addition and processing of farm produce
5. Market intelligence
6. Organic/sustainable farming; low cost labeling/certification processes
7. IT services in agriculture
8. Mechanization solutions for small farmers
9. Diversified agriculture livelihood models (covering dairy, animal husbandry,
fisheries, apiary, agro forestry, etc.)
10.Agribusiness opportunities directly impacting farmers
11.Contract farming12.Agriculture services such as credit, input supply.
13.Energy services in agriculture
14.Opportunities for enhancing the role of women in the agriculture value chain
The above list is only illustrative. Proposals outside this list can also be submitted
provided they demonstrate a clearly how the proposed innovation can bring
benefits to small farmers. 
How to apply
Interested parties can apply for support for their ideas in the following format:
1. Provide a gist of the idea and where it has been tested, with a brief
description of results
2. Propose an intervention in a target State, district, block, group of villages,
with some idea of the scale of the intervention 
3. Define in detail the methodology proposed to be followed
4. Define outputs and outcomes, leading to impact
5. How will the proposed intervention be implemented: roles of the promoter,
State Government, local community, others should be clearly specified.
6. Detailed budget, with timeline
7. Any other relevant detail
8. How will the proposed intervention be monitored: M & E strategy.
Projects received under this head will be examined by a Technical Committee in
SFAC, which may include a presentation and defense of the proposal by the
promoter. Once selected, SFAC will approach State Governments/other donors for
financial support on behalf of the promoter and facilitate implementation,
monitoring and other support. Venture Capital Support will also be provided to
eligible projects. This is an open window without any deadline and projects may be submitted at any
time of the year.
